home again

hi everyone,

in case you aren't aware, i am officially back in hawaii. i just started putting together a video that will summarize all the fun and exciting adventures of the semester, hopefully that won't take me too long to finish, but no promises!

it feels really nice to be home again in hawaii, but i really miss all the good friends i made while away in england. come visit me in hawaii everyone!

i am on currently on maui, should be going to oahu within the next week or so to start working for the summer and after that comes graduate school at the University of Hawaii.

i'll leave you with a couple pictures from my last night in york and the bible college's graduation ceremony [which explains why i am dressed differently than normal].

that's all for now.

bridges of england: photo collection

i got back from london at about 1am and took my first final this morning. i just uploaded all my pictures from london but haven't had the time to really sort through them and decide what to post and write about from my time there.

instead, i realized that i had collected a decent amount of pictures of really exciting bridges from around england, and decided i will make a post for the structural engineer and architect in us all!

so here we go!

Bridge over the Serpentine in Hyde Park, London:

Millennium Bridge, London (over the Thames River, connects to Tate Modern):

Millennium Bridge, York:

Whitby Harbor Pier (not exactly a bridge but still exciting):

Bridge at Aysgarth Falls, Yorkshire Dales:

Tower Bridge, London:

whitby and robin hood's bay

i just realized i haven't been on here to update in awhile. i've been so busy trying to catch up on my papers that i really haven't had anything exciting to say.

yesterday the bible college took the day off to drive out to the north-east coast of england, to a place called robin hood's bay. from the bay we went on a 7-mile walk to the harbor town of whitby, with sea cliffs on our right and sheep fields on the left. this took a few hours and then we cruised around whitby, got some coffee, and went to a place called magpie cafe for supposedly some of the best fish and chips around. they were still just fish and chips. :)

i loved whitby, probably one of the prettiest places i have ever seen. i don't think i could live very long in an inland place like york, i love the ocean too much.

heres some fun pictures from my exploring:

(more to come after my coffee shop shift)

manchester

im in manchester, riding bikes all weekend!  yesterday was a big alley cat race, where you basically get a list of checkpoints you need to ride to and get your paper signed then you ride to the next checkpoint.  this morning im hanging out at calvary chapel stockport and going to a men's breakfast thing and then riding back over to the bike activities around noon.  yesterday i managed to plow down a girl on her bike [who was not involved in the race] because she has at an intersection waiting to cross, looked at me coming down the street towards her, and then continued to roll right out in the middle of the street.  then she just froze like a deer in the headlights and we got all tangled up.  somehow her pedal ended up wedged in my spokes so now my front wheel is all tweaked and i need to get it trued before i keep riding all day...

cycle the solar system!!

at church on sunday night i was talking to a guy i happened to sit next to and he told me about this bike trail i needed to check out. yesterday i finally made enough time [and the weather was warm and sunny] to explore the trail. its basically a 6-7 mile trail [10km], along which all the planets of the solar system and located, spaced and sized proportionally to the sun that is located at the beginning of the trail. i rode from the bible college to the sun, all the way out to pluto and back to the sun and finally home for a total of about 15 miles. what a fun day! here's the pictures of my adventures in outer space:
